Summary of this Tutorial:

Starting with speed, based on page size the page load time, and how many requests each plugin made you see that Envira Gallery was the fastest.

For ease of use, Envira and Foo Gallery both have a visual drag and drop way of creating a gallery whereas NextGen’s gallery is a little less intuitive.

Envira is built with a mobile first approach so it’s fully responsive out of the box and comes with several built in features.

Foo gallery has some great features as well, but it is not mobile responsive out of the box so if you have many mobile visitors to your site, this could be a problem.

NextGen is the oldest of all three plugins and has several features and wins the features comparison.

Enivira gallery stores everything in it’s own custom post type which makes it easy to import and export the galleries.

Foo gallery does the same thing, but there isn’t an import/export feature.

Overall the Envira gallery is the best WordPress photo gallery plugin.

Being very fast and simple to use with all the essential features and mobile responsive.

  1. Nothing more than a 2 minute advertisement in order to try to make commissions from envira gallery… a gallery I've never even heard of. Oh, but it's the best. You mean you get the most commission from them when people click your link and purchase it????

  2. I was already suspicious of the apparent bias in this article just from the way it read and the way it was pushing Envira. Then I read the comments here and it became obvious why. I hate when they disguise advertisements as supposedly independent reviews. So that sucks for a start.

Second, I thought I'd check out the video to find out what these galleries looked like and how they operated. Even with the bias, it was an opportunity for them to demonstrate the Envira gallery. Instead I end up having the article read out to me. I'm an IT professional, I don't need to have an article I've already read. read to me aloud.

Finally, reading around, it's become apparent that the upgrade nagging in the free lite version is way beyond normal. Furthermore, I'm reading reports of them moving features from free to paid, and up the tiers in the paid version when you upgrade leaving your site inoperable. This is totally despicable. So it seems I cannot trust Envira as it seems they have a habit of taking features off you in the hope you'll upgrade to the next price plan. This is unacceptable. I won't be buying this thing then.

  3. The video was just having the article red. I was hoping to see some examples of what each gallery is capable of.

  4. Nah, Envira sucks. The lite version has a limitation on the number of galleries one can add. It sure doesn't stand out in any way from the others mentioned.

  5. Notice there is no mention of the fact that WPBeginner makes and sells Envira Gallery – perhaps a conflict of interest on naming the "best"?

  6. You really should put a disclaimer/notice on here.

WP Beginner makes Envira Gallery, so the comparison is biased to begin with.

  7. I have not been able to find a gallery plugin which can provide me output in raw form like a an array or JSON so i could use it create something custom using loops & external jQuery plugins.

Is there any plugin free / paid which can provide a good interface to manage for end user but a raw output for developers to use it to create something custom on front-end ?
